Community, Membership & Fundraising

The day-to-day work of the ZA is carried out by four Working Groups, each of which is chaired by a trustee and includes one or more Board members, plus regular members who have been invited on the grounds of their skills, experience and capacity to commit to the time.

The Working Groups report to the Board; formally at each Board meeting and informally on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities of the working group are as follow;

We must be aware that there are many associations than ours ready to take their dues. Even if our association has a strong core of loyal members, the fact still remains that we need to recruit new and younger members, to ensure that we retain a strong core of membership going forward.

Define your USP
Our unique selling proposition (USP) is the answer to the question, “Why should I choose this
association instead of another one?” In other words, what makes our association unique? Knowing our
USP is the foundation from which we will build all of our marketing materials and campaigns.

 

Build up our new member services.
Our new members want to know what exactly they will get by signing up with us, so it’s up to us to offer something valuable, accessible, and instantly useful

Get lobbying.
Support members and lobby for the causes that matter to them

Reach out on social media.
We must make sure our association is there when potential members come looking, and reward them with interesting and shareable content

Recruiting new members
Commit enough time and volunteers to plan and run our membership drive.

Give membership recruitment adequate funding;
Reach out to a large enough prospect audience
Organise workshops once or twice a year to update members on any issues of interest
Launch fundraising activities to capture potential members
Liaise with other organisations and attend their meetings where possible so as to create networking opportunities
